Our June sales include Part IX of the "Erivan" Collection of United and Confederate States Postal History and a catalogue of Canal Zone stamps and covers featuring the collections of James W. Crumpacker and Paul F. Ammons.
Canal Zone
complete mint pane of 100 with carmine vermilion overprint from the eighth printing (12.G), includes varieties such as "Canal" in antique type at position 26 (12a), "Zone" in antique type at position 48 (12b), "N" antique in "Canal" at position 65 (12.2), "L" antique in "Canal" and "Z" antique in "Zone" at position 42 (12.4), "Z" antique in "Zone" at positions 32 and 45 (12.5), "Pamana" at left at positions 54 and 59 (12.7), "N" with double diagonal stroke in left "Panama" at positions 53 and 58 (12.20), and "Panamas" 3½mm below bar at positions 11-20 (12.23), as well as 40 stamps with the overprint split horizontally (12.27a), couple of insignificant selvage flaws and reinforced perforations, very fine and rare, a wonderful sheet demonstrating a wide array of varieties
