October 4, 1783 folded letter from London to Queen Anne's County, Maryland, carried privately by ship to Boston, entered the mails with January 20 datestamp and manuscript "2.16" rate, reverse with manuscript "Philada 20 1st mo 1784 Recd under cover and forwarded as desired by thy respectful Friends, James & Dunker", very fine, see lot 2306 for a cover mailed the same day carried by Falmouth Packet, ex-Salazar
