Arey, in care of the American Consul", carried by Cunard's Canada from Boston March 17 to Liverpool arriving March 29, London transit backstamp but as Great Britain did not allow unpaid letters to France it was returned to Boston via Cunard's America (departing March 31, arriving April 14), then placed on sailing ship St. Louis departing New York April 27, arriving Le Havre May 20, blue Spanish entry and "4R" due, returned to Boston as Captain Arey had already sailed, carried by Union Line Zurich from Havre June 13 to New York arriving July 23 (when the ship mail datestamp was applied), missing most of two flaps and 3c stamp creased, still very fine given this cover's extensive travels
