manuscript postmark on October 1762 folded letter to Boston, straightline "Martinico" handstamp applied at origin, some toning and internal splitting, fine and extremely rare incoming colonial-era letter from British Martinique, in January and February of 1762 Great Britain launched an invasion of the island of Martinique in a series of actions that also saw the capture of Dominica, St. Lucia, Grenada, and St. Vincent, the island was returned to France after the Treaty of Paris was signed on February 10, 1763
