red Boston fancy framed carrier backstamp on folded letter originating in Matanzas, Cuba, datelined March 20, 1856, endorsed "Empire City", black "Steamship 10" handstamp and red "Forwarded by Dot. Spalding & Co. Havana" backstamp, light toning and interior faults, fine appearance, scarce combination steamship and carrier cover, ex-Bowman
full margins, pen cancel, used on cover to Lowell, Massachusetts with 1851 3c Dull red (11) tied by blue "Charleston S.C. Paid Sep 29" datestamp, cover faults including piece out at upper left, still a fine to-the-mails use, ex-Roth (Scott $300)
1861 3c Rose (63, perforation tip toning) tied by handstamp indicating carrier fee paid in cash, "Harrisburg Pa Dec 17 1862" double circle datestamp alongside on cover to Norristown, Pennsylvania, slightly reduced at right; second cover dated May 1, 1863 with same cancel (not tying), very fine, this marking has erroneously been stated to be a precancel in the past, ex-Roth
red datestamp on incoming folded letter from London to New York City street address, dated April 3, 1843, endorsed "Britannia", fine and scarce incoming transatlantic letter with carrier service
red handstamp with matching large "3" on August 25, 1845 folded lettersheet to local street address, fine and scarce, ex-Bowman
red handstamp with matching "2" on West Philadelphia Rail Road Company printed notice, 1846 docketing, splits along the folds and small tear, still fine, ex-Kuphal and Bowman
red handstamp with matching small "3" on small cover docketed August 10, 1847, small faults, fine and scarce, ex-Bowman
margins large to full, tied by red star and blue "Philadelphia Pa. 5cts Oct 9" handstamps to 1854 folded letter to New Hope, Pennsylvania, internal piece of lettersheet missing just affects appearance at right, otherwise very fine and attractive, ex-Perry and Roth (Scott $2,500)
