blue two-line handstamp on cover to Woodford, Illinois, 3c Green Bank Note (small corner fault) tied by blue Maltese cross, "Chicago Ill. 8 Apr 2PM" datestamp, cornercard for "Wm. H. Bradley, Clerk U.S. District Court", bankruptcy notice enclosed, very fine and attractive
magenta pointing finger handstamp on cover from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, franked with 2c Small Bank Note, addressed to "Miss Hattie von Bergen, Care of Evert Booth, World's Fair, Chicago, Ill.", fine and rare, only nine examples of this handstamp recorded by Bomar/Savadge, one of the rarest and most desirable Columbian Exposition postal markings
seven covers from the Bank Note era, markings include RTW-3, RTW-4, and RH-1 pointing hand, small faults but generally fine to very fine, an interesting group

Jun 25" datestamp, additional blue "Returned to Writer" handstamp (RTW-4), cornercard for "Wm. H. Bradley, Clerk U.S. District Court", very fine and choice combination of markings
37 covers and cards from about 1893 to 1960 with a wide variety of different handstamps including variations on "Returned to Writer", "Returned for Better Address", "Returned from Hotel", etc., generally fine to very fine, an interesting and useful group for the specialist in auxiliary markings
two-line black handstamp on 1866 cover to Albany, New York, franked with 1861 3c Rose (65) tied by circle of wedges, cornercard for "Law Booksellers, Publishers, and Stationers", barely reduced at right, very fine and rare early marking unlisted in the Piszkiewicz book
clear strike in black on ca. 1878 cover to Dixon, Illinois, deposited without postage, "Chicago Ill. S.D. Sta. Feb 12 6PM" postmark, blue pencil "3c" due, backstamped February 13, opened at top to find the address of the sender and sealed with an official seal (OX1, faults), very fine appearance, the earliest recorded "Returned for Postage" handstamp from Chicago, illustrated in Piszkiewicz (page 477)
circular handstamp on 1879 cover to Honolulu, Sandwich Islands, bearing three 3c Green Bank Notes (158), originally mailed with a stamp that had previously been used, marked "Due 3" and returned at which point two new stamps were affixed, cornercard for "Fraser & Chalmers, Engines, Boilers, and Mining Machinery", very fine, an interesting use
25 covers ranging from 1901 to 1946, variety of different "Returned for Postage" handstamps as discussed in chapter 57 of Piszkiewicz's book, generally very fine and interesting
black circular handstamp on 2c Brown entire postmarked "Milwaukee Wis. Jul 11 85", two strikes of "Returned to Writer." in oval, various Milwaukee and Chicago backstamps, fine, an attractive cover with a bevy of interesting markings
blue hexagonal handstamp on ca. 1875 incoming cover from Eaton, New York, backstamped "Chicago Ill. Carrier 6AM Oct 20", extremely fine strike and cover, this marking was used from the mid-1870s until 1882
