18 folded letters and covers including 1814 Woodbury manuscript, 1834 "per Dover Mail", 1838 Trenton, 1843 Burlington, 1847 Woodbury manuscript, 1849 Bloomfield and Somerville, 1850 Trenton in green, 1851 Rahway and Trenton, 1852 Morris Town, and Deerfield manuscript, generally fine to very fine, an attractive and interesting group
interesting old-time collection housed in five albums, we note items such as Flanders 1850 "Way 6", Freehold 1827 manuscript, Griggstown 1853, Lawrenceville 1853 straightline, Morristown 1832 and 1845, New Brunswick 1767 manuscript and 1834 rimless, Pennington 1846, Ramapaugh 1786 folded letter to Robert Morris in New York, Union 1850, Vincentown 1850 manuscript, Fogg's Express bootlegged letter, plus a wide variety of postmarks from larger cities such as Jersey City, Middletown Point, Newark, Patterson, Princeton, Somerville, and Trenton, some mixed condition but plenty of fine to very fine markings, a wonderful and interesting lot for the specialist
approximately 130 covers mostly franked with 1857 and 1861 3c Issues, wide variety of DPOs, fancy cancellations, some advertising and a few patriotic covers, mostly written up on old-time handmade pages, fine to very fine, untouched for some time so a lot of potential
several hundred covers primarily from the Bank Note era through early 20th Century, includes better towns, advertising, and more, generally fine to very fine compiled by a dedicated collector over a long period of time
two-line datestamp on folded letter to New York City, manuscript "Free", very fine, the Van Wyck Stage line that had a monopoly on mail from Albany to New York City from 1785 to 1795, with Hudson being added as a stage stop in 1794, ex-Roth

black straightline datestamp on folded letter originating in Scotland and addressed to Philadelphia, manuscript "1.8" rate, bit damaged after such a long journey but still fine appearance, This cover was carried to the United States from Scotland by private ship, entering the United States mails at New York. The mail from New York arrived in Philadelphia via stage every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The stages made their way to Indian Queen Tavern at 15 South Fourth Street and the George Tavern on the corner of Second and Mulberry Streets before finally going on to the Philadelphia Post Office. ex-Roth

straightline datestamp on folded letter to Philadelphia, manuscript "20" rate and endorsed "Double Letter", very fine, the Inslip & Cumming Stage Line had a contract for mail between New York and Philadelphia during this time, with mail arriving in New York every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, ex-Roth
red datestamp with matching "Steam Boat." straightline and "7" rate handstamps on 1846 folded letter from St. Albans to New York City, very fine strikes and cover, 7c rate paid 5c postage plus 2c steamboat fee, ex-Paige and Hahn
red datestamp with matching "Paid" and "XX" (20c) handstamps on 1849 folded letter to Kosciusko County, Indiana, vertical filefolds, otherwise very fine and scarce
