Austin P.M.”, letter datelined “Montrose (formerly Fort Des Moines)”, very fine, the unique postmark from Montrose while a part of Wisconsin Territory, the first Fort Des Moines existed from 1834-37 before becoming the town of Montrose, which was home to many early Latter Day Saints members
