red datestamp with matching arced "Ship" (Clarke 511) and manuscript "39½" rate on folded letter from Bordeaux, France dated June 19, 1808, endorsed "U.S. Packet Brig St. Michael", very fine, 39½c postage pays triple the 12½c rate plus 2c ship letter fee, sent during the Embargo period but arrived after the Non-Intercourse Act
