LETTER PAID LIVERPOOL" tombstone transit; endorsed "From Pre James Hall, H.M. 9th Foot" and signed by commanding officer at lower left, backstamped Quebec SP 30, stamps clear to wide margins except just in at top right, the cover open at 2½ sides with edge faults incl tear at front right; still a Fine showpiece; the only known soldier's-rate letter from Canada and one of the most important pieces of Canadian postal history; ex-Dale-Lichtenstein, Nickle, Wilkinson, Hackmey
