approximately 90 covers and cards posted between about 1874 and 1893, representing all eight stations opened between 1874 and 1883 (North Division, North West, West Division, South West, South Division, Stock Yards, Cottage Grove, and Madison Street), very nearly all of the markings illustrated in Piszkiewicz's book are included, generally fine to very fine, an extraordinary group illustrating Chicago's rapid growth in the 1870s and 1880s, see discussion in Piszkiewicz (pages 290-94)
