red rate handstamp on drop letter datelined "Aurora Oct 26th 1850", carried to Chicago where it was mailed, very fine and early drop letter, contains an order for lumber from J.L. Hanchett, Chief Engineer of the Aurora Branch Rail Road which had opened its line connecting to the Galena & Chicago Union Railroad only three weeks earlier, illustrated in Piszkiewicz (page 150)
