Our January 2023 sales include the "Erivan" Collection of United and Confederate States Postal History Part VIII, as well as a general sale of United States and worldwide stamps, covers, and collections.

23 used singles, two used pairs, and six covers (four Scott 7, two Scott 9), neatly mounted on homemade pages, each stamp plated and with major distinguishing features highlighted (many platings done by Mark Friedman), wide range of recuts, plate cracks, double transfers, and other varieties represented, covers somewhat faulty but stamps generally fine to very fine, a wonderful lot for the specialist with a lot of in-depth research already conducted
tied by Adrian, Michigan datestamp to all-over illustrated "Intemperance is the Curse of the World" cover addressed to Flat Rock, Michigan, Wm. C. Hale imprint, sealed tear at top and part of backflap missing, very fine appearance, a beautiful cover
position 94L5L (major cracked plate), dramatically showing plate crack at right, mostly full to large margins, just in at top, tied by Fort Wayne datestamp to cover to Logansport, Indiana, 1856 docketing at left, very fine and attractive
42 used singles, three used pairs, and 21 covers neatly mounted on homemade pages, all plated and with distinguishing features illustrated or highlighted (many platings done by Rob Lund), includes 10 on cover with St. Louis integral datestamp, 10A on New Orleans cover with manuscript "Way 1", 11A on cover with acid-tied Blood's local, many different recuts and other varieties included, a wonderful collection for the specialist and worth a close inspection
